USA Green Card Lottery
The U.S. Diversity Immigrant Visa Program, also known as "Green Card Lottery", is an
immigration program run by the U.S. Department of State under which citizens of most countries can become permanent residents of the USA. Each
year the U.S. Government, through its green card diversity visa program, makes available 55,000 immigrant
visas to persons meeting the eligibility requirements. Applicants for the green card
lottery are initially
chosen through a random computer-generated drawing. Winners of the green card lottery win the right
to live and work in the United States. Those selected from the current Green Card Lottery program,
DV-2009, will be drawn from the entries registered with U.S. State Department in the year
2007.
